INVOLVEMENT AND LEADERSHIP

My time at LSU has been busy! Scroll down to see the different extracurricular activities that I have participated in and leadership positions that I have held within them.

Alpha Epsilon Delta

Associate Member 2020-2022
National member 2022-2024
Membership Chair 2022-2023
President 2023-2024

AED is LSU's pre-medical honor society on campus. I have been deeply involved with this club since freshman year, and am currently the organization's President. This service-based club seeks to help the Baton Rouge community through health and education initiatives as well as community service.  Additionally, it seeks to expose its members to different aspects of medicine through guest physician lecturers as well as clinical opportunites such as workshops and jobs. As Membership Chair, I was responsible for new member intake and academic review for this 400+ person organization and communicating our roster numbers to the national office. However, I took on additional duties to create educational programs like Medical Book Club and our CPR + First Aid Certification workshop. As current President, I am in charge of presiding over our 14-person executive board/the club's internal running as well as inviting speakers and organizing opportunites for our members. Current initiatives I have implemented include a Pre-Health Food Drive in the wake of the annual LSU drive between clubs getting canceled (which raised just under 3000 lbs of food) as well as a Cultural Competencies in Medicine Series (which has so far included a talk on increasing health literacy and an ASL workshop) .

Stamps Scholar Cohort

Stamps Council Events Chair, 2022-2023
Stamps and President's Alumni Scholars Liasion, 2023-2024

Comprised of the 10-12 top students from each academic class, the Stamps Scholar cohort (and its sister cohort, the President's Alumni Scholars) not only seeks academic excellence, but to foster a community of intellectuals that serve, socialize, and excel together. As the Stamps Council (the cohort's student leadership body) Events Chair, I was responsible for planning social events to facilitate cohort bonding. This included our largest event of the year, "Scholarsgiving", in which students reflected on the fall semester and shared a meal together before finals. As Liasion, I am currently in charge of presiding over the Stamps Council and President's Alumni Council, serving as the primary bridge between the students and our advisors, helping plan Scholars Weekend (where new cohort members are determined in an interview weekend filled with activities), organizing events, and more.

Research Ambassadors

VP of Membership, 2021-2023
President, 2023-2024

As a Research Ambassador, I have worked closely with the LSU Discover Office of Undergraduate Research to spread awareness of research opportunites on and off campus, match students with research opportunites, and provide personalized individual mentoring to students in need of research guidance. This has entailed volunteering at many research-related events (ex: LSU Discover Day – LSU's annual undergraduate research symposium), giving class talks, doing research takeovers on Instagram, and more.

SCI 1001 Peer Mentor

As an undergraduate TA for the introductory course SCI 1001 (Becoming A Scientist), I help students get acquainted with what LSU has to offer for STEM students as well as help ease the transition from high school to college by providing advice, study tips, and pre-planned lessons about careers in science. Through this mentorship, I have helped multiple students get research jobs as well as find clubs and leadership positions that coincide with their scientific interests.
